Live Answers from our own documents

Go on, ask it something.

The chatbot lives in the corner of your website and answers from your own documents, in your own words. If the answer isn't in there, it does not invent an answer. Instead it captures their details and sends you an email with them and their conversation.

Or scroll down and watch it working.

It is 9:47pm on a Sunday.

emailed to you at 9:47pm

The problem

Your customers have questions. Your website can't answer them.

Three things that happen on a small business website, every week.

  1. They came, they did not find it, they left.

They did not find what they were looking for, so they went back to the search results. You will never know it happened.

  2. You have answered the same question over and over.

Opening times. Parking. What you offer, and prices. Every one costs a phone call, and most were never going to book anything. If your customers get the information upfront, the calls that reach you are the higher-value ones.

  3. Your customers are awake at 11pm on a Sunday.

You are not. By Monday morning they had booked somewhere else.

Know before you ring back

Know what your customer wants before you ring them back.

Every enquiry arrives with the whole conversation attached. What they asked, what they were worried about, what they want to book.

No more ringing someone cold who filled in a form on Tuesday and cannot remember why.

The business here is made up. Real numbers belong to the client who earned them, and we do not publish those.

Your chatbot's personality

The same product. Three businesses that sound nothing alike.

Three demo businesses: a holiday cottage, a pub and a dental practice. Each with its own chatbot, in the personality that best suits that business. The same six questions, put to all three. The answers are real output from real configured assistants.

Your own chatbot is set the same way: its tone, its greeting, the list of things it must never discuss, and the documents it answers from are all yours to adjust.

The last one is different for each business on purpose. What an assistant should refuse to answer is not the same in a pub as it is in a dental practice, and it is the part you set.

Two Elms Cottage Ready to answer

What do you offer?

A two-bedroom stone cottage on the edge of Nethercote, sleeping four, with a wood-burner, a secure garden and off-road parking. We do short breaks and full weeks all year. Dogs welcome. It is the sort of place people come back to, which is why the summer weeks go early.

What time are you open?

Check-in is from 4pm and we ask you to head off by 10am on your last day. Arriving late is absolutely fine, the key safe works whatever the hour, and I will send you the code the day before. If you want to drop bags earlier on the day, just ask, we can usually sort it.

How much is it?

It changes with the season and the length of stay, so I will not guess at it. A short break in November is a very different number from a week in August. Tell me your dates and how many of you there are and I will give you the actual price rather than a range.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, up to two dogs, £25 each for the stay. There is a secure garden, a towel rail in the boot room for the muddy ones, and a lead hook by the door. We just ask they stay off the beds, and there is a good walk from the gate that does not touch a road.

Are you a real person?

No, I am an assistant, not a person. I know this cottage inside out because Sarah wrote everything down for me, but if you would rather speak to her she is on the number at the bottom of the page and she does answer it.

The boiler has stopped working.

That needs a person and it needs one now, not in the morning. I am passing this straight to Sarah with your name and number, and her mobile is 01632 960 144 if you would rather ring while you wait. Do not try to reset it yourself, the manual is in the drawer but she would rather come out.

[Passing you to Sarah]

Personality: warm, and anticipates the next question.

The Tipsy Ferret Ready to answer

What do you offer?

Beer, food, and somewhere to sit with a dog. Cask ales that change, proper pub grub, a Sunday roast that sells out, a Wednesday quiz, live music once a month, and the Burrow out the back for parties up to twenty. Big beer garden with a heated bit for when the weather does what it does.

What time are you open?

Doors open at midday, every day. The kitchen stops at 9, the bar does not. Sunday roast runs 12 to 4, or until it sells out, which it usually does, so do not be the person who turns up at 3:45.

How much is it?

Depends what you are after. Sunday roast is £16.95 and worth every penny. Mains are mostly £13 to £18 and the full menu is on the site. Pints, I am afraid, are subject to Donna's mood and the price of barley.

Can I bring my dog?

Very. Dogs are welcome everywhere including the bar, there are water bowls dotted about, and there is a dog menu, which is a sausage or a couple of biscuits. Bring the muddy boots while you are at it, nobody minds.

Are you a real person?

Nope, I am the pub's assistant. No hands, cannot pull a pint, deeply frustrated about it. Donna is very much real though, and she is behind the bar most evenings.

I want to book the back room for forty people, it is for a wake.

I am going to hand this to Donna rather than take it myself. The Burrow seats twenty, so forty needs a conversation about how to do it properly, and for something like this she will want to speak to you herself. Can I take your name and a number for her?

[Passing you to Donna]

Personality: cheeky and quick.

Nethercote Dental Dr Amelia Payne Ready to answer

What do you offer?

We are a private dental practice offering general dentistry, hygienist appointments, and cosmetic treatments including whitening and veneers. New patients are welcome. We are not an NHS practice and we do not have an NHS waiting list.

What time are you open?

The practice is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. We are closed at weekends and on bank holidays.

How much is it?

A new patient examination is £65, which includes any X-rays we need on the day. Beyond that it depends on what the dentist finds, so I am not able to quote for treatment. You will always be given a written treatment plan with costs before anything is agreed, and nothing goes ahead until you have said yes to it.

Can I bring my dog?

Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the practice. Other pets we are not able to accommodate, as the treatment rooms are a clinical environment. If that makes an appointment difficult for you, please ring us and we will find a way round it.

Are you a real person?

No, I am an automated assistant for the practice. I can answer questions about appointments, opening hours and how things work here. I cannot give you dental advice, and anything clinical goes to a member of the team.

My tooth is really hurting, what should I do?

I am not able to give advice about a dental problem, and I would not want to guess with something painful.

If it is an emergency, please call 999.

Otherwise you have two options. You can ring the practice on 01926 960 200, open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Or give me your details and I will get one of the team to contact you.

If it is outside our hours and cannot wait until we open, NHS 111 can advise on urgent dental care.

[Passing you to the practice]

Personality: formal, precise, and visibly refuses to advise.

What happens when a chatbot does not know the answer?

A good one says so and passes over to a person. A NanoPorter assistant answers only from the documents you provide and control, and it is not permitted to fill a gap from general knowledge or by searching the web. When it cannot answer, it says so and offers to take their details.

Can an AI assistant give medical, legal or financial advice?

It should not, and ours does not. Each business sets what its assistant must never discuss, and for a dental practice, a clinic or anything regulated that is critical. Watch the dental example above: it will not advise, and it gives the emergency route instead.

How does a chatbot hand over to a real person?

It offers to capture the visitor's contact details and pass them over to the business to get back in contact. The enquiry arrives in your inbox with the whole conversation attached, so whoever calls already knows what was asked and does not start cold.

Will an AI chatbot sound like a robot?

Only if nobody sets the voice. The three assistants above answer the same six questions from the same engine and sound nothing like each other, because each one is given its own tone, its own rules, and its own documents, all of which you can control.

Pick a look

It wears your colours, not ours.

Six sample looks, so you can see how your chatbot behaves. Yours is designed with you, in your own colours, and this is the only part of the page that changes colour.

The Friday email

Every Friday, what people actually asked.

The week's conversations, the five most-asked questions in your customers' own words, the enquiries passed to you, and the things worth adding to your site, because for every person who asked, others looked and left.

The business here is made up. Real numbers belong to the client who earned them, and we do not publish those.

How it works

Four steps, and who does each one.

  1. You fill in five short documents.

We send the templates. They are questions, not blank pages.

  2. We build it, and you try it on a private link.

Nothing goes near your website until you have said yes.

  3. You or your web person paste one line into your site.

    That is the whole installation.

  4. Your chatbot answers, and emails you every enquiry

    with the full conversation attached.

They are your documents, in your own folder. You change them whenever you like and your chatbot picks it up overnight.

Would you rather we read your website and drafted your documents for you? From £79, as an option, never a second fee. You still review and approve them: they are yours.

FAQs

The questions people ask before they buy.

What is the difference between NanoPorter and a regular chatbot?

Most chatbots are scripted. Somebody writes a list of questions and the replies to them, and the widget matches what your visitor typed against that list. NanoPorter uses AI, so it holds a proper conversation rather than picking from a list, and it answers only from the documents you give it. It never fabricates an answer. When it reaches a question it cannot answer, it says so, asks for the visitor's contact details, and passes the whole transcript to your team so somebody can get back in contact.

Why not just use ChatGPT myself?

You can, for yourself, and plenty of people do. But ChatGPT is a separate website and app. It is not embedded on your website, ready to answer your customers' questions in your voice, from your business documents. NanoPorter does a different job. It sits on your website, so your customers can use it there. It answers only from the documents you give it about your business and from your calendar, and when the answer is not in there, it says so. It takes the visitor's details and emails you the whole conversation. And it is built, monitored and kept running for you, rather than being something you set up and look after yourself.

Will it sound like a robot?

Only if nobody sets the voice. The three assistants above answer the same six questions from the same engine and sound nothing like each other, because each one is given its own tone, its own rules, and its own documents.

How long does it take to set up?

Most of the time is yours: five short documents, from our templates. Once they are in, we build your chatbot and send you a private link to try. When you say yes, it is one line on your site, and changes to your documents go live the next morning. If you realise a day later that you have uploaded a document you did not mean to, contact us and we will force the update through immediately.

Is there a contract, and how do I get out of it?

Yes, a plain-English one, and it runs month to month. You can end it at any time with 30 days' written notice; if we ever ended it, we would give you 90. Before your chatbot goes anywhere near your website you also sign a data processing agreement with us, and when you leave, your data is returned or deleted under it.
